For several years now the Judicial Academy has regularly been working with Ana Burazin when organising various visits of foreign judicial officials to Croatia. On these occasions Ana has proven an exceptionally competent interpreter with excellent knowledge of both English legal terminology and the Croatian legal system. Her consecutive and simultaneous interpreting distinguish themselves through their precision and accuracy, and her translating and interpreting skills reflect the spirit of the English and Croatian languages. I worked with Ana Burazin from 2008 to 2015, that is, over the course of the proceedings concerning the Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Croatia v. Serbia) before the International Court of Justice. Ana was in charge of translating documents relating to the case into Croatian and English. Her approach to the job was very professional, paying special attention to, in particular, the precision, accuracy and meaningfulness of the translation, always consulting all available legal sources so as to be, in case of doubt, certain that she made the right linguistic choice. She always kept to deadlines and to what had been agreed. She does not approach translating lightly, but is aware of the legal, political and other contexts which affect the choice of appropriate translation. I would definitely recommend Ana, especially for the translation of legal texts that are complex and demanding.

We hereby confirm that from 2006 to 2019, Ms Ana Burazin continuously worked with the EU Documentation Sector. She was engaged as an external associate on the basis of the 2005 Expression of interest for translating and proofreading European Union legislation and Council of Europe legal documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia, the testing of candidates having been carried out by the Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as an independent academic body.

During the time we worked together Ms Burazin translated more than two thousand translator pages of Croatian legislation into English, mainly from the fields of law and finance. In addition, she translated from English into Croatian, consulting thereby French versions, more than three thousand translator pages of the acquis (regulations, directives), including judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union. As a reliable expert associate, Ms Burazin could be entrusted with the most demanding of texts requiring a high degree of expertise and an in-depth knowledge of the terminologies of different legal systems.

Ana Burazin is definitely the ‘go to’ person if you need a quality translation done in the shortest possible time which is always in conformity with the spirit of the language.
